Lesbare Architektur und architektonischer Text
Metaphern und deren Überwindung bei Michel Butor
Abstract
The architectural theme plays an important role in Michel Butor’s theoretical work. However it’s neither a question of the realistic representation nor of the aesthetic value of the architecture, but Butor rather emphasizes the metaphorical aspects: he applies textual metaphors to architectural spheres and reciprocally uses architectural images in order to characterize texts. Moreover, he suggests abandonning the metaphorical level in order to read architecture literally as a text and to construct texts in three dimensions.
