Abstract

Godard is known as a director who is very much attracted by the possibilities of metaphor in film. The following second part of the study treats various forms of metaphorical expression in his film Notre musique (France 2004), focussing on the metaphorical interaction between verbal and visual elements and differences in the degree of metaphorization. It reveals the utmost importance of metaphorical processes for the overall semantic structure of the film as for its most basic operations.
