About the Journal

"OpenSpaces – Zeitschrift für Didaktiken der Geographie" is a scientific journal for the discussion of theoretical and empirical approaches in geography education as well as for the publication of practical teaching examples across the discipline’s various paradigms. The journal sees itself as a platform for new and critical approaches to theory and practice of geography education, especially for young scientists - for students, doctoral candidates and post-docs, regardless of the number of semesters or project progress. Our goal is, in line with the title of the journal, to create an open space within geography education research and beyond, to explore and to challenge hierarchies around concepts of geography education. We strive to provide a space for contributions that critically question social and political-economic power asymmetries and their spatial implications.
