Abstract

Digitality requires appropriate in-service teacher training in the social sciences, including geography. For these courses to be successfully implemented across German federal state
borders, it is necessary to first determine the needs of the stakeholders involved. With this aim in mind, a guided group discussion in the style of an expert interview with university lecturers in social science teacher training was conducted and evaluated using content analysis. On a
structural and infrastructural level, challenges for the realization of cross-federal state digital in-service training were identified and federal state-specific working limitations were determined. This enables an outlook on cross-federal state subject collaboration as a first solution and suggestions for further empirical approaches.
