Abstract

Despite the social relevance and omnipresence of climate change, current curriculum analyses show that the topic is currently anchored differently in the German education system between the federal states (e.g. Siegmund Space & Education gGmbH & rgeo 2021; Klüsener & Wittlich 2023) and therefore advocate an increase in learning materials and best practice examples for classroom exploration. Excursions represent a promising approach for such a classroom-based examination of climate change-related topics, as phenomena such as climate protection and climate adaptation measures are visible to learners in the field. The following best practice example shows a learning unit, in which pupils map and evaluate climate adaptation measures in their own school environment.
