The relevance of social media as a topic in geography lessons results not least from the impact that digital constructions of space can have on students. The users and the algorithms of the platforms play a role in this. The article presents a learning unit that helps students to deconstruct digital constructions of space by means of the so-called hashtag analysis. It offers students the tools to critically and reflectively engage with their media behaviour, but also with media productions as such. The unit was implemented in a learning group of hearing impaired students and students with learning difficulties.
