Métaphore et transmission de la rhétorique
entre langage et culture
Abstract
The present article focuses on the ways in which metaphor and comparison are addressed in standard textbooks used in French courses in the canton of Fribourg (Switzerland) on the secondary level. Neglecting its role in argumentation, the manuals often restrict the metaphor to its aesthetic function. Presenting a series of propositions for the discussion of figures of speech in both written and spoken language, this paper argues for a teaching of the metaphor as a know-how both aesthetic and argumentative.
