Learning Analytics (LA) provides insights into learning processes and promotes the development of applications that support teachers and learners as well as providing institutions with data for educational planning. This paper shows how algorithms mediate between the actors and thereby influence both the structure of the mediation and the actions themselves. Finally, it discusses what knowledge, skills and attitudes teachers and learners need to responsibly handle LA data in geographical education.
